White Lias

INDIGENOUS SOMERSET BLUE LIAS STONE SOMERSET

White Lias is a light-coloured limestone known for its clean, bright appearance and versatile applications. Quarried from the same regions as Blue Lias, this stone offers a unique alternative for projects that require a lighter stone with similar durability and practicality. White Lias is particularly favoured for projects where a brighter, airier aesthetic is desired, while still maintaining the strength and longevity of natural limestone.

For walling, White Lias provides a smooth, refined finish that works well in both modern and traditional designs. Its light tones reflect natural light, creating a more spacious, open feel in both interior and exterior spaces. Available in both coursed and random formats, White Lias can be used to create structured, formal walls or more rustic, natural-looking finishes.

In internal applications, White Lias is often used for flooring. Its clean lines and bright colour make it an ideal choice for spaces like kitchens, bathrooms, and hallways, where a light, fresh appearance is desired. Like Blue Lias, White Lias can be honed or polished to achieve a smooth finish, adding a touch of luxury to any room. The stone’s durability ensures that it can withstand high traffic areas, making it both a practical and beautiful choice for flooring.

White Lias is also used for bespoke architectural features, such as window cills, coping stones, and lintels. These pieces can be custom-made to fit the specific requirements of the project, ensuring that the stonework is cohesive throughout the design. The bright, natural beauty of White Lias, combined with its strength and durability, makes it a popular choice for both residential and commercial projects.
